NEW YORK SUMMER INTENSIVE 2017
Our curriculum is designed for young students who love dance and want to immerse themselves in the art of ballet. Students will be systematically taught ballet exercises at the barre and in center, progressing toward more complex combinations and work on pointe.
Our instructors are sensitive to the physical and mental development of the individual rather than having an expectation based on age. The objective is to empower the young dancer through coordination exercises in ballet that are appropriate for their stage of physical and mental development.
Basic daily curriculum will include: Classical Ballet, Repertoire, Pointe, Variations, Character Dance, Male Technique and Partnering.
These classes focus on building a solid foundation in ballet technique with an emphasis on proper placement and safe progressions of movement while remaining sensitive to the developmental needs of younger dancers.
Beyond working to achieve technical strength, students will work to understand the value of dance as an art form and to recognize as well as develop the artists within themselves in a nurturing and supportive environment. In order to prevent injuries and promote wellness, special attention is given to proper body placement and work habits.
